PROJECT‘Palm Springs’ Residence

In collaboration withWattle Court, with interiors by The Make Haus, this project is conceived as a modern interpretation of Palm Springs living - where relaxed luxury is expressed through a refined, highly considered material palette. The design leans into texture, tonal nuance, and natural variation, allowing each surface to contribute quietly yet intentionally to the overall composition.
A sense of cohesion is established from the ground up, with Floor Collective supplying and installing Natural Grade Oak 15mm in Light Neutral throughout. The soft tonality and natural grain variation provide a warm, understated foundation, setting the tone for the layered materiality that follows.
Moments of contrast are introduced through the use of Italian terrazzo, with Celtic and Light Grey tones laid in a checkered formation within the bathroom - balancing playfulness with precision. In the kitchen, the island becomes a sculptural centrepiece, wrapped in the Moritz Maroon Finger Mosaic, adding depth, richness, and a tactile focal point within the space.
Elsewhere, the introduction of Bejmat Moroccan tiles brings a subtle, handcrafted quality. The Snow finish is applied to the bar splashback, offering a soft, chalky texture, while the Beige Clear variation forms a feature wall within one of the bathrooms, enhancing the layered, tonal narrative.
This material dialogue extends beyond the interior. Quartz Rosa Crazy Pave defines the front porch and entry path, creating a textural, grounded arrival, while Quartzite Calibrated Rectangle Rosa Pavers continue through the alfresco - blurring the threshold between indoors and out, and reinforcing a seamless, architectural flow.
The result is a project that feels both relaxed and resolved, where each material has been carefully considered, and every finish contributes to a cohesive, design-led outcome.
Texture does the talking here. From the warm grain of the oak underfoot to the chalky handmade tiles and the rich depth of the mosaic island, every surface was selected with intention, not for impact alone, but for the quiet dialogue it holds with everything around it. The result is a space that feels relaxed without being careless, and refined without being rigid.
